NEW ORLEANS- The VH1 Save The Music Foundation donated musical instruments, including clarinets, trombones, flutes and saxophones, to Success Prep students at Thurgood Marshall School.
Today they celebrated the arrival of their new instruments with the First Lady of Louisiana, Mrs. Donna Edwards, who was once a music teacher.
âMusic is such an important part of our educational process. Bring them to school and provide these instruments to the children. It is something that children will never forget and that they can take with them all their lives. It is a real gift for these students. I am so honored to be a part of this day, âshe said.
One of Ms. Edwards’ initiatives is a program for children called âThank You MAMâ. MAM stands for Music Arts Movement. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation has been donating musical instruments to schoolchildren since 1997.
