There is an overabundance of musicians who dream of performing for audiences in arenas or stadiums for a living. And there are musicians who do just that – only for the band to pull the rug out from under them soon after, kick that person out of the band.
Some bands do this regularly, going through huge changes in their formations over the years. Bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Lemonheads have only one original member, and bands like Yes and Thin Lizzy have no original members.
Change is the norm for some.
This is due to several reasons. Strained relationships, ego / self-esteem issues, or just the usual excuse of âcreative differencesâ can inevitably cause a band’s line-up to implode.
Petty quarrels and jealousy end up taking an emotional toll, whether it’s Tom DeLonge leaving Blink 182 “indefinitely” to search for aliens, or Noel Gallagher abandoning Oasis after his brother Liam throws a guitar to him backstage.
In fact, behind-the-scenes breakups are so common that some of the best-known formations in the world have kicked out people you’ve never even heard of.
